On a sunny, muddy rugby morning Keyworth 13s pieced together a clinical and physical performance against old foes from Oakham.
In the pre-match chat the team had decided to share responsibilities around reducing the impact of the key Oakham players and from the first whistle set about playing the game at a fast tempo. Theo and Alec were causing havoc on the muddy touchline and soon started trading tries. TK, Pharrell and Ethan were showing hard running and aggressive tackling enabling the ball to be secured quickly and distributed excellently by George and Archie. This was a great contest and only fantastic tackling from both Oweyn and Danny prevented dangerous positions from Oakham being converted into points. The front 3 of Toby, Matt and Ethan worked hard to gain ground and maintain the ball. James W carried well and joined the rucks when necessary. Big H arrived after forgetting his boots and with Dominic allowed us to keep rotating a couple of players. Today's star of the show was Tom King who showed a good all round game with good tackles coupled by strong running and better distribution. Defensively Josh harried and pushed the line right until the end which was very pleasing to see. Theo and Alec combined excellently throughout and scored 7 tries between them - Theo 4!) TK added the other 2.
