Ten Try blitz beats Woodhouse

VETERAN No.8, Tony Mee scored an amazing six tries as Keyworth beat Woodhouse Giants 56-25 away from home in the first round of the Midlands Junior Vase.

Keyworth ran in ten tries in all against a spirited Giants side.

Mee could have even added to his impressive tally, but he was shown a yellow card by the referee for a high tackle in the second half.

Woodhouse started the faster and went over for an early try and Keyworth found themselves under some pressure from the home side.
They rallied in strong fashion when Callum Humphrey, making his first team debut, fielded a high kick in his own 22.

He then proceeded to run through almost the entire opposition ranks to touchdown under the posts.

Simon Richards added the first of three successful conversions.

Further tries followed for Alex Tsang and Andy Martin, with Mee grabbing his first two of the afternoon before the half-time whistle.

Woodhouse managed a couple of penalties as a result of Keyworth indiscipline, but the home side found themselves 11-27 down at the break.

With Keyworth taking their customary nap, it was the Giants who began the second half at a gallop which resulted in two tries and the margin closed to just two points.

This finally stung the Black and Ambers into action and young Adam Waldron barged his way over for a try to settle the ship.

Mee then followed this with four more unanswered tries, including two from pushovers as the pack, ably led by Rob Severn, exerted their power over the Giants to record Keyworth's first win of the season.
