Keyworth 1st XV 55 - 10 Rolls Royce

The Security Plus sponsored Keyworth started the new League campaign with a comfortable victory over visitors Rolls Royce crossing the line 9 times in the proceedings. After a somewhat quiet opening 10 minutes with both packs trying to gain the upper hand, the Keyworth team moved up a gear and ran in 4 trys in the 1st half from Ben Ransom, James Muston, Jamie Birch and Nick Martin and 2 conversions from Simon Richards to lead 24-0 at the turn around.

The second half started where the first finished with Keyworth scoring 2 more trys both by Richard Johnson in the 1st 10 minutes to really knock the stuffing out of their opposition and kill the game as a contest. This actually seemed to kick start the Rolls Royce side a little and their forwards started to run a little more freely as the Keyworth skipper made a few changes to their side. Rolls managed to pick up a penalty and a converted try to pull 10 points back but this again saw Keyworth kick on and run in a further final 3 trys from Jamie Halpin, Phil Parnham and Ian Gregory and 3 more conversions from Richards to seal the win.

Special mentions must go to Neil Shanks who made a very impressive 1st team debut in the front row putting in some big hits and several very useful ball carrys through the second half. And also to Jedward who are moving on to University this week at Leeds and Coventry (guess which one got sent to Coventry lol). Good luck boys and see you later in the season.
