A strong positive start from the home side saw Keyworth establish a 20 – 0 half time lead with 3 tries, a conversion and penalty.
However, when East Retford asked to go to uncontested scrums for the second half, this guarantee of possession which they hadn’t had in the first half, suddenly brought them right back into contention and with 10 minutes to go they’d got to within one point and were looking like the only horse in the race.
A rallying cry from the skipper saw Keyworth redouble their efforts and the reward came through some determined running and two excellent tries to round off a 30 – 19 win.
Scorers for Keyworth were:
Mark Hall 2 Tries
Jason Holland 2 Tries
Alex Tsang 1 Try
Mark King 1 Penalty, 1 Conversion
